CIS Secondary Curriculum

At CIS our greatest asset is our teaching staff. Secondary teachers in Grades 9 through 12 are assigned according to their subject(s) specialty(ies). The secondary program is offered almost exclusively at the Academic and University level according to the Ontario Ministry or IB Guidelines. The only exceptions to Academic offerings are the Open level courses in Grades 9 and 10: Business, Careers and Civics, Drama, Health and Physical Education, Media Arts and Visual Arts. In both Grades 9 and 10, we offer Applied Level Mathematics, and in Grade 11, we offer Mixed College/University Level Mathematics. It is expected that students enrolled in the CIS secondary program intend to continue post-secondary studies at the university level.  The school offers a range of course selections that caters to a variety of student needs. Teachers differentiate to provide a range of opportunities to engage all students. CIS graduates are meeting and exceeding the expectations of a variety of post-secondary programs all over the world.

Beyond the classroom, there are copious opportunities for students to become involved and to take leadership positions in the Arts, GIN, Athletic, House and/or Student Government Councils. All students participate in the Tuesday and Thursday Clubs Program. The CISS Wolves participate in a wide range of interscholastic sporting events and Model United Nations and GIN activities foster healthy debate.
