Welcoming CISS New Head of School

Dear Esteemed Parents and Students,

CISS is an inclusive learning community committed to the development of future leaders. Built on academic achievement, service learning, global citizenship, inquiry, reflection, and the balance of mind and body, we challenge all members of our community to be active, lifelong learners. We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Peter James Corcoran as the Head of CISS School beginning in May 2023, to lead the team to fulfill the mission of CISS. 

Mr. Corcoran's illustrious career began in British Columbia, Canada, where he dedicated 25 years to teaching and administrative roles in high schools. His passion for international education led him to Seoul International School in South Korea, where he served as a high school principal and later as the Head of School.

Following his time in South Korea, Mr. Corcoran took on the role of founding Executive Director for Qatar Foundation Schools, overseeing 10 schools and programs that catered to a student population of 4,000 in the State of Qatar. His visionary leadership and commitment to educational excellence paved the way for transformative learning experiences.

Prior to joining us in Vietnam, Mr. Corcoran served as the Head of School at the Canadian International School of Singapore. This prestigious IB continuum school, with a student population of 3,200 from Nursery to Grade 12, offered a bilingual Chinese language program under Mr. Corcoran's guidance.

Mr. Corcoran's professional interests extend beyond his administrative roles. He is an avid researcher on effective teaching and learning, continuous school improvement, and bilingual education. His dedication to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of educational advancements reflects his unwavering commitment to fostering an exceptional learning environment.

Educationally, Mr. Corcoran holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Victoria and a Master's Degree in School Administration from the University of British Columbia in Canada. Furthermore, his wife, Kristy, contributes to the field of education as a secondary school counselor, and together they have two daughters, who are a testament to their dedication to fostering educational growth within their own family. 

With over 40 years of remarkable experience in the field of education, Mr. Corcoran brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our school community.
