GRADE 6 FIELD TRIP | EXPLORING BIODIVERSITY IN REAL CONTEXTS

뉴스 17/04/2026

Grade 6 students recently extended their learning outside the classroom with a visit to Tao Đàn Park for an experiential learning trip with Vietnam Snake Rescue. This trip built on their learning in their biodiversity unit. Students explored different habitats, learned about the role snakes play in ecosystems, and observed live, non-venomous species in a safe and guided setting. The braver students had the chance to touch the snakes as well. The experience also made connections with how snakes are understood within Vietnamese culture, including their role in traditional practices.

More than just a field trip, the experience gave students to inquire about the natural world and see animals we usually avoid up close. Our Grade 6 students learned that snakes are an important part of our ecosystem and their habitats should be protected to maintain balance in nature - became something to understand and respect.

At CIS, we greatly value the learning opportunities of field trips like this as students can inquire, challenge assumptions, extend their understanding, and step out of their comfort zone to build understanding and more meaningful relationships between themselves and the natural world.
