GRADE 4 FIELD TRIP | UNDERSTANDING HISTORY THROUGH ARTGRADE 4’S TRIP TO THE FINE
Arts Museum lets students experience their unit on Ancient Societies in a more visual and interpretive way. Students were able to explore artefacts and artworks that are emblematic of the way our ancestors lived. This gave students the opportunity to make connections between the way we live and express our identities today and how societies functioned in the past.

The experience was made memorable for students as they could engage with art as living history, showing students the perspectives of people from the past rather than memorising facts on a worksheet. Through observation, independent inquiry, and interpreting the meanings behind each piece, students learned how art can tell stories that go beyond written records. At CIS, experiences like this encourage students to think more deeply, consider different perspectives, and develop a more thoughtful understanding of the world around them as they develop into global citizens.
