CIS Alumni Spotlight: Sophie Le - Class of 2023 IB High Achiever

We’re excited to showcase Sophie Le, a standout graduate from the Class of 2023 who achieved an incredible 43 out of 45 in the IB program at CIS. This fantastic score reflects Sophie’s hard work, determination, and love for learning. Now that she is studying molecular biology and genetics at the University of Guelph in Canada, Sophie shares how her time at CIS set her up for success in university.

“My score of 43 out of 45 is something I’m really proud of,” Sophie says. “CIS helped me excel academically, but it also gave me the chance to explore my interests through extracurricular activities and leadership roles.” Balancing her studies with various clubs and councils, Sophie feels that CIS helped her grow into a confident and well-rounded student ready for university challenges.

One of the highlights of Sophie’s time at CIS was serving as the secretary of the Student Council. “I loved being part of the Student Council because it taught me a lot about organization, planning events, and leading others,” she shares. “These skills have been really useful at university, where I’m now an executive for several student clubs that work in a similar way.”

Sophie’s experience at CIS was more than just about academics; it was also about discovering her passions and building a foundation for her future. “CIS helped me figure out which subjects I liked the most and guided me toward the right university for my interests,” she says. From sports to leading student initiatives, every experience at CIS played a role in her personal growth and prepared her for university life.

For current CIS students, Sophie’s advice is to take advantage of every opportunity and stay curious. “Get involved in things that interest you—it’s the best way to learn about yourself and what you might want to do in the future,” she encourages.
