BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) is a form of collaboration between home and school where parents ensure that each student has a technology device that meets their child's individual needs. CIS, in turn, will supply high-speed wireless internet access, and teachers skilled at teaching in the digital age. This model will support improved teaching and learning and will provide students with the skills and habits necessary to become highly-effective members of an interconnected world.
CIS is proud in their use of technology integration to enhance our students’ learning experiences. We believe that by using technology appropriately, students are more highly engaged in their own learning, have increased opportunities to develop higher order thinking skills, and are better prepared to participate in a world where technological fluency is essential.
With the advancement of Internet technologies, CIS has strategically moved most of our software and tools to the “cloud” (Internet) via Google Apps for Education. Except for a few applications that require installation on the hard drive, most of our applications are now “cloud” (Internet) based. Rapid changes in both hardware and software technologies have allowed us to consider alternative technologies. As most of our core learning systems are accessible via the web, standardizing on one operating system/device is not necessary. We no longer need to lock into any one platform and technology.
