The trip to explore Vietnamese culture

Recently, the CIS Saturday Vietnamese Classes had their field trips to Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces to experience the culture, literature and history of these lands.

“I am most impressed with Tran Bien Temple of Literature. It is the symbol of the studious spirit of Vietnamese people. Visiting and listening to the Tran Bien Temple’s story has inspired us to study better” - Diep Le Hoang Phuc, Gr.9, CIS

“I think, whatever it is -  a short or long trip - no matter the place, there will always be some meaningful lessons we can learn. For me, the most impressive thing from the Binh Duong-Dong Nam trip is the story of an old artist, who has devoted his life to the pottery industry. He is over 80 years old. Though he was very weak, he still works hard every day and earns a meager salary of only 200.000 VND/per day. He said, “I will only quit the job when I die”. I realize the deep love that he has for his career…” - Vu Anh Thu, Gr. 11, CIS.

“One thing that I learned from the trip: The clay here is carefully selected. It is soft, flexible and not dry. The artists do not use any machines. The products are all handmade. That’s great when the artist can rotate  the ceramic mould for several hours without any dizziness. The essence of the nation has been consolidated from their hands as the process of producing a ceramic. "- Ho Le Minh Thach,  Gr. 10, CIS
