For those of us, who attend the Saturday Vietnamese Classes, the trip to Green Farm in Cu Chi was a really useful and interesting field trip. Green Farm is a small farm with houseplant mushrooms, animal husbandry, orchards and fruit gardens. Under the guidance of farmers, we were introduced to mushroom cultivation processes and had opportunity to make mushroom embryos and harvest abalone mushrooms. We also visited orchard gardens and the animal husbandry area.
For me, the most exciting activity was catching fish by hand. This required persistence, agility, ingenuity and a bit of luck. This was the first time I had tried this. Although I had some difficulties, I was still very excited! Finally we got seven snakehead fishes and it was worth for the effort. Then, we sat down together to discuss what we had learned. The lively and persuasive presentations helped us remember more of that knowledge.
